Celebrities Behind Bars

August 6th 2010 03:16
Do celebrities receive special treatment when it comes to the law?
According to Lindsay Lohan or Martha Stewart they certainly don't!

Boston.com put together this piece entitled Famous (and infamous) celebrity arrests which looks at some famous faces who have served prison time in recent years. Read the full article here.

Lindsay Lohan arrested
Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan faces 90 days in jail and another 90 in rehab after violating her probation from a series of incidents in 2007. After turning herself in to face charges of driving under the influence in 2007, Lohan was arrested and charged with drunken driving, driving on a suspended license, and cocaine possession.

Nicole Richie
Nicole Richie pleaded guilty in 2007 for driving under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to four days in jail and ordered to pay a fine. Following the ordeal, Richie declared she was ready to make a turnaround for her baby's sake. Now a mother a two with husband Joel Madden, Richie is living the truly simple (and domestic) life.

Martha Stewart Arrested
Martha Stewart
She cooks, she gardens, and she goes to jail. Martha Stewart, who spent five months in the big house, was released on March 4, 2005, to serve an additional five months of house arrest after her 2004 conviction on insider trading charges. Her jail time, obviously, was not a good thing.

Paris Hilton
After violating the terms of her probation for a DUI case in January of 2007, Paris Hilton was sentenced to 45 days of the real simple life: jail. Though her lawyers initially appealed the decision, Hilton dropped the appeal and served 23 days of the original sentence.
