I agree, stop trying to make us stop, we will when and if we want to. There are so many other issues to focus on. So why don't you just leave us alone. Just an FYI, when I see those unti smoke ads, I want to smoke, not quit.

Haha! Actually, I really like it. Wouldn't make me quit smoking, wouldn't make me think twice about the smoking end of it, actually.

Thinking about it, I'm considering that decorating scheme in my bedroom. Then again, I'm dark and morbid like that, though.

Maybe we non-smokers are minding OUR business by trying to keep you smokers (whom we love, so) from putting all of us (including yourselves) through the pain of a long and anguishingly painful disease.
Let me tell you, if my man get's sick from smoking I WILL NOT pull the plug!

I think everyone has a mind and a choice!
Therefore, mind your own business. If Smokers want to smoke, let them. If Non-Smokers don't want to be around smokers, then don't.
This also goes along with the states that have gone Smoke Free. If a business wants to have a Smoking Area then let them. If the Non-Smokers do want to go into the business because of the Smoking Area, then that is THEIR CHOICE!
Isn't this country all about choices?
It is MY CHOICE TO SMOKE...IT IS MY CHOICE TO STOP SMOKING...IT IS YOUR CHOICE TO MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!

We all live on the same planet. Cigarette smoke is a toxic pollutant. It releases toxic gases into the atmosphere. Smokers not only shorten their lives, but the lives of everyone else. Really Long Link

It's NOT your business any more than any personal habit is your buiness. Tobacco is legal for adults and health insurance actuaries figure a company's policy based on a certain number of smokers, obese people, drug addicts, etc., and my health insurance is deducted from my paycheck. Second hand smoke does NOT cause the kind of harm most morons believe. Read the FACTS -- there has NEVER been a study linking second hand smoke to cancer. And since we have to smoke OUTSIDE nowadays, second hand smoke is NOT a factor in anyone's life. A bus traveling ONE block creates more smoke than my cigs do in a week.

smoking is never going to end.. look at all the drugs. weed is illegal unless it's medical, and people still do it right and left. the government makes to much money on cigs to do away with them. I do think however that it should be the owners choice on wether he wants his building smoke free or not. and then a person could make a choice, i mean theres not going to be 5 mcdonalds in one area of town that are all smoking. Pick your choice, and if you want to whine about having to drive an extra two blocks for a smoke free building, remember, it's your health your protecting. And if you want to whine about having to drive an extra two blocks to go somewhere that does smoke, remember, it's your rights your acting on. There has to be consideration for the other party. No matter what there choice is. If you want people to be considerate of your needs you first need to be considerate to theres.

How can you love anyone else if you don't care and love yourself? Food, sex, smells, self esteem, exercise, health and attitude, not to mention $ one can spend on other necessities...are just a few things that are better once an intelligent choice is made to end your own self destruction. Please be reasonable and choose to better your own situation.Your text goes hereYour text goes here

I have to put my 2cents in, but it is a proven fact that after smoked cig do kill. I clean houses for a living and I have seen the non-smoker in the household die of lungcancer because he/she lives with a smoker. I've seen it alot, and the yellow nicotiene I clean off the walls and windows is hard to clean off. Just think how much of that yellow stuff is stuck to your lungs. I'm not picking on anybody, its just clear as can be.

two of my friends who smoked during their pregnancy have underweight children - one is extremebly allergic to so many things he could only drink Ensure for the first 3 years of his life. His mom nor dad has any kind of allergies. Both smoke. I call that second hand smoke illnesses.
The other baby had absolutely no muscle tone until she was almost 1 year old. Was grey for months.
I get so angry when I see moms and dads selfishly smoking around their kids. so stupid....

How about just handing posters that have photos of lungs and hearts that have been taken from bodies of smokers? I have also seen posters of people with mangled, gross, burned faces with the line "if the effects of smoking were seen on the outside of your body, would you still smoke?"

This smoking shit is getting so ridiculous!!!!!
NON SMOKERS, what the hell is your problem?
Why do you care so much about what smokers are doing. I'm sure why half of you are whining about the "health problems" second hand smoke is causing you, you are probally eating a Big Mac, and sucking down a 32oz soda and supersize fries from Mcdonalds, while driving around in your Suv polluting the air and using up all the oil. All I have to say is most of the shit that we as Americans do is somehow toxic to the earth and our bodies. In case you didn't know WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE ONE DAY, and it can happen at ANY TIME. Obesity,Cancer, Aids, Car Crashes, Drowning, Choking, Earthquakes, Murder, Heart Attacks, Nuclear War, ETC. There is just so much more out there to worry about then be fixated on smoking. Worry about yourself and how to make You a better person. The one thing we are all forgetting is that this a is supposed to be a FREE country. It is very strange to me that I can go overseas, and do more shit there than I can in America. Very sad, It just seems that we are getting all of our rights, slowly taken away. For instance IN GOD WE TRUST, but I am not going to go there cause this is about smoking. All I am trying to say is leave the smokers alone. We know the consequences of our actions when we chose to light up a cigarette and we are willing to except that. Like I said fixate on more important things

Hey if people want to smoke, let them. Avoid the smokers if you can for your health. Anyway, they're all going to die before all of us anyway. Personally, I don't want those people to hang around for too long.

i agree. i quit because my husband kindly asked me to. he loves me and i thought it was worth it. but every day i feel that i will die of something eventually anyway, non related, even if its not smoking..so why cant i just smoke? i might die in a car crash, should i stop driving? i might choke on a ham sandwich a la mama cass, should i stop eating? i might get hit by a car..should i stop walking along roads? get the point.

Your text goes hereYour text goes hereYour text goes hereHello,
I am a smoker as of right now. I am trying to quit. There is a pill out now, if you didn't know. It's called Chantix. Believe me....this helps sooooo very much. I was a 2 - 2 1/2 pack a day smoker. But I took the Chantix and ya wanna know how much I smoke now?? Ok, get ready. I smoke LESS than a pack a day.THAT'S THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!!!
I say....Leave the smokers alone. We have had to put up with a LOT of crazy rules. Things like we have to go outside to smoke. That's not fair. We should have a room with a window and maybe a vaccume to pull the smoke out. Hey you smokers....Think about this: When a woman is on her period...we don't make her go outside nor to a *Special* bathroom. What about somebody that gets a bad headache? We don't send them outside. And the people that are over weight. We don't send them outside. Even the people that wear glasses. We don't send them outside either. Hey!! I could go on & on & on....But I won't. Just think about it. We are forced to go outside to smoke. It's NOT FAIR!!!!

Now......I will go for now. I hope everybody has a great day. Yes, I know it's Monday...but lets try just a little harder because of that. Have a great day to you all!!

Everyone needs to lighten up on this issue, it's getting a bit rediculous. First off the tobacco companies are the ones who make the least amount of money off of their products, it's the states and the feds that are the true winners in this game. Bottom line is, if you put the tobacco companies out of business, the fed and state tax revenues are going to stop; guess what happens then...... Get ready, your taxes will probably go up 10 Fold, if not more - the money has to come from somewhere. I suggest you take a look at the real revenues the states and governemt are racking in from this. I know, if they put the tobacco companies out of business, maybe then they will go after the alcohol companies, so get ready.

And calling people moron and the other person calling someone a a***hole (July 23rd 2007 03:38) did you both have you daily smoke, as you are both stress out, at not accepting other people opinion.

PS Because you go off, I am a non-smoker who don't mind people smoking, as long as they ask me first and if they don't, I guess I can burp or fart?

I can't believe there is still all this bullshit over this. Let it go. Smokers smoke. Non-smokers don't smoke. We have already gone from the days of being able to smoke in hospitals and having doctors recommend brands of smokes to having to not only smoke outside but on the side walk and still get dirty looks, nasty comments and just plain rude people giving us crap all together. Now is it really necessary that if someone isn't like you that you make sure they are aware of the fact you have judged them as a person? I'm not saying that all non-smokers are as rude as most of those that have left comments here but obviously they are all over the place. Any smoker that puts a cigarette in his or her mouth and lights it up knows exactly what they are doing and how it will affect them. Non-smokers do too. They each have reasons for either smoking or not, so why can't we just let people live the way they want to live. You wouldn't walk up to an obese person and tell them that they should stop eating so don't walk up to a smoker and tell them to not smoke. Also, it is very true that stop smoking campaigns do NOT work. Every time I see a poster, sign, commercial, ad, whatever! I just want to light up a cigarette. Even if I'm half done with one already. All you do as a militant anti-smoker is make yourself look like a petty, annoying jerk. So as a smoker who was once an avid non smoker I can say smoking isn't that bad. It isn't hard to simply take a step back or even be nice about not wanting to be around smoke. We smokers are people too and we understand that it may bother some. Some WAY more than others. But if a smoker walked up to you and saw you drinking a soda what would you do if they asked you to not drink soda around you. Go over to the designated soda drinking area. We already live with enough oppression from people every day, we don't need one more person telling us how to live our lives or how they think we could improve ourselves. Just remember: every time you are rude to us all we want to do is light up a big fat delicious cigarette and blow every drag right in your face. We've been cooperative so far but where is the line? Just let the smokers smoke and go on with your life smoke free. We can all be happy if this stupid argument over smoking bans and smokers rights goes away. We all have rights now lets stop stomping on each others to get what we want. Live and let live. Or as I usually say "Just fucking deal with it."
