Best Cartoon News Headlines

July 30th 2010 07:24
Popular cartoon TV series such as the Simpsons and Family Guy are full of newspaper gags. Many fans will even pause the DVD to read headlines. (As the first picture points out!)
Homer Simpson and his friends are by far the biggest source of humorous headlines, and pleated-jeans.com put together this fantastic collection. Below is only a sample.

Family guy news headlines. DVDs pauses. Millions disappointed.

Biggest TV Finales

June 2nd 2010 04:24
Most anticipated finales in TV history

Whenever a much loved and long running television series comes to an end there can be a massive amount of hype and an even bigger TV audience tuning in.

Metromix Chicago takes a look at the biggest finales in history. View the full list of 14 popular shows here.

Most watched TV series of all time - MASH
M*A*S*H*
Still the undefeated champion in ratings—105.9 million people!—and heart string pullage, the 11-year sitcom about a three-year war ended with the group going its separate ways and a woman smothering her own baby's neck to save a group of fleeing North Koreans. Until the recent Super Bowl, it was the most watched broadcast ever.

final episode of Cheers
Cheers
Beaten only by "M*A*S*H" in finale ratings, 80.4 million watched the "Cheers" finale where Diane (Shelley Long) returned only for Sam (Ted Danson) to realize his true love was actually the bar the whole time. Appropriate, if also a little creepy. Let's pray they never consumated the relationship.

final episode of Friends
Friends
It's been off the air for six years, but "Friends" is probably the last show to get as much media attention for its end up until "Lost." Ross and Rachel finally ended their decade-spanning break, Joey departed for his ill-fated spin-off and 52.5 million watched—even though they couldn't secure a cameo from that annoying monkey.

Biggest final episodes ever - Sopranos
The Sopranos
Whacked or not-so-whacked? We never really did find out, as much as folks will try to tell you otherwise. Tony Soprano's questionable end was an artful and cerebral ode to a show that made cursing and bloody murders seem so [bleep]ing classy. And though its premium cable status made its ratings small (11.9 million) compared to the others on this list, it outmatched most of them in water cooler debate.

Sex and the City - Last Episode
Sex and the City
The folks behind "Sex and the City" had to know they'd spend another decade milking their franchise with movies when the series ended in 2004, but they had to offer a few surprises—and a really boring one. After six years, we learned that the mysterious Mr. Big's real name was... John. Big whoop.

Are Movies Getting Better Or Worse?

November 4th 2009 01:27
The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) contains an incredibly large collection of movies and all things related to them, this includes ratings out of 10 given to each film based on the perceived quality by viewers.
Nathaniel Johnston thought an interesting experiment for his blog would be to look at the average rating of movies released from 1950 to today to see if the general public believe that movie quality is improving or not.
There are of course a few criteria each film must meet, such as being theatrically released (not straight to TV) and at least 1000 votes recorded. The IMBD has over 10,000 movies that meet these criteria
